HTML5 runnin’ wild

It has been far too long since my last post. Reasons for this? Well I bought a new house which is cool and I got a new job which is also cool. Mix that with a splash of laziness and you get three months without writing. So what’s been going on?

HTML5

Since my last post there has been lots of attention on HTML5, with the web community seemingly getting involved and helping to sort out any issues in the spec. Still, there is a long way to go yet and many issues to resolve, and many issues that have yet to be found.

However you can start using HTML5 now if you want.

Call the Doctor

I am very fortunate to be part of the html5doctor team along with Rich Clark, Bruce Lawson, Jack Osborne, Mike Robinson and Remy Sharp.  So far I have written a couple of articles there:

So go and feast on the RSS feed and get involved. Please ask questions, either in the comments section there or use the contact form. But please do not send questions about your health. Seriously, the amount of crap we get through is ridiculous.

Changes to this site

Surprisingly, I’m still relatively happy with the design of this place. I think I’ll have another think about it come Christmas time. I built this using HTML 5 back in April and did things my way. However, Bruce Lawson has written Designing a blog with HTML5. So hopefully I will find time to restructure things under the hood here – I need to swap some article and section tags around. It shouldn’t be too difficult, as I built the ExpressionEngine templates with flexibility in mind - I guess I’ll find that out!

Update: 12/09/2009

Just a very small but pedantic change here - I had “HTML 5” in the title, when it should be “HTML5”. No space!

Don't just sit there, join in!
