Stop jQuery loading in Wordpress
If, like me, you use Wordpress a lot, and you use MooTools as your main javascript library, you’ll probably have noticed that Wordpress calls the jQuery library automatically.
In fairness, I can see why they do this, the Wordpress admin area uses heavy jQuery and nearly all Wordpress plugins use jQuery in some way or another.
However, for some clients, I don’t necessarily want jQuery to load. I might be using MooTools as my javascript library, so having two libraries being called on my page is not only likely to lead to conflicts but it is also bad for page performance (loading time, etc).
After trying various suggestions, I finally stumbled across Aaron Saray‘s site which had this gem of information. I take no credit for this code whatsoever but I only found that page hidden under a few pages of Google so hopefully this blog post might help others find it easier.
The following code goes in header.php

However, I have also run into problems with this because on a contact page, I had a jQuery contact form plugin. So I still needed jQuery to run on this page, so I used the following
